Release Title: マリーのアトリエ ~ザールブルグの錬金術土~
Initial Release date: 23 May, 1997 (JP)
Platform: Sony PlayStation
Artist: Kohime Ohse / 桜瀬琥姫

Salburg, home to the prestigious Salburg Academy, which specialises in the study of Alchemy.
The academy is revered for producing some of the best alchemists in the entire continent.

Meet Marlone: a cute, bumbling alchemist whom everyone calls "Marie".
In the graduation test, Marie gets the lowest scores on record at the academy.
In danger of being failing and being expelled, Marie is given one last chance to prove herself:
open a workshop, and in five years or less, create an item of 'transcedent quality'.
With the help of her best friend Schia, fairies, and a group of mercenaries,
in doing requests for the townspeople and maintaining her workshop, Marie works to save her grade.
Released exclusively in Japan, the game mixes alchemy item creation with dungeon-crawling as players seek out ingredients,
monsters and riches through mission-based fetch quests.

Official synopsis (PSN)
Have you grown weary of saving the world? If so, 『Atelier Marie』 is for you.
It's full of unique terms such as alchemist, item melding, and dropout, which don't often pop up in your run-of-the-mill RPG.
In fact, it has been highly rated from all quarters for its originality. This game has it all, including character designs by Kohime Ohse and fully voiced dialogue. Exciting events, pastoral towns, and fine friends combine to make a game that is both steeped in fantasy, yet rooted in reality. Will Marie be able to escape from the threat of failing, a fate far more frightening than any evil wizard you could face?
The bonus version also adds an additional mode to events and the ending!
