Atelier Meruru

Released in 2011, Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (released in Japan as Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3) is the thirtheenth entry in the series and takes place one year after the events of Atelier Totori.

The story follows Merurulince "Meruru" Rede Arls, the princess of a small rural kingdom. Uninterested in politics and royal duties, Meruru instead had become captivated with alchemy, and dreams of becoming an alchemist. She studies under Totori, who was sent by Arland to bring alchemy to Arls.
Exasperated by Meruru's reluctance to step up to her duty, her father, King Dessier, does not approve. However, following a conversation with Totori, he devises a plan to allow Meruru to puruse alchemy while also fulfilling her royal duties.

In the three years leading up to Arls' merger with the larger Arland Republic, Meruru must prove alchemy's worth in developing her small country and helping it prosper.
