About Atelier

The Atelier Series (アトリエシリーズ, [a.tə.lje]) (from the German word for 'workshop') is a series of console RPGs (role-playing games) primarily for Playstation Consoles (though there have been releases for Sega and Nintendo consoles), developed by Gust Corporation.
The series began in 1997 with the release of Atelier Marie for the Sony PlayStation. Until Atelier Iris in 2005, the series had been releases exclusively in Japan.

The game series draws heavily on the pseudo-science of alchemy, using it as a basis for its crafting system, in which players must find and collect ingredients in the world and utilise recipes (and later, alchemy equipment) to 'synthesize' new items in order to progress through the game.

With the exception of the Iris and Mana-Khemia series, which go for more of a traditional console-RPG style, the series takes a unique, character-driven approach, in which you have x amount of years to fulfil a goal, using alchemy to work towards and eventually achieve it. Atelier is an annual series, with Gust releasing a game every year. Each game builds on the last, improving the game's foruma incrementally, making each game bigger and better than the last.

About Atelier Memoria

Atelier Memoria is an Atelier fansite that has been in development for a long time.
I'd always wanted to run a full-fledged Atelier fansite, though with webmaster culture dying out with the advent of social media, I'd never gotten around to it.
It wasn't until Puni Cove initially shut down that I decided to finally fulfil this daydream of mine.

I first discovered Atelier in 2006, when Atelier Iris was first released in the UK.
It was the art that drew me in intially, but once playing it, the story, characters,
alchemy system and music all cemented it as one of my favourite games of all time.
